Ghost Futures

Ghost Futures is a data physicalization that represents increasing temperatures (from top to bottom) and major coral bleaching events. The bleaching events are represented through colored beads; the white beads represent the bleaching events. This piece utilizes a found radiator cover as a frame and batik cotton fabrics represent the past forty years in the simplified form of wave.

Coral Bleaching + Global Warming Data

The data in this piece was from Our World In Data, NOAA Coral Reef Watch, and the Coral Reef Alliance. The design reflects the tangible and variable nature of coral, and the beads include a variety of bright colors that are common among coral reefs. The white beads are ever more stark in relation to the vibrant colors of the piece.
