Plastic bodies

This small data quilt represents the amount of plastics in our textiles and bodies. It was made from entirely natural fabrics and naturally dyed with marigold, madderroot, indigo, and cochineal.

polyester is fossil fuel

Because of the increase in fast fashion, we are surrounded by toxic chemicals in many of our clothes, especially polyester, which is made from fossil fuels. Representation in this piece works based on size and color in relation to the amount of clothing that contains plastic, and the amount of bodies that contain microplastics (which at this point is 100%).
